04/26/12
Single Match
The Savage Wilds of Orcs (A. Johnson) vs. The Shambling Vampyre Undead (M. Ochs)
Winner - The Night Goblin Fanatics Shocked Oh yeah, it was that kind of (k)night!
Except for the annimosity, in which the night goblins that started the fray ended up on the wrong side of the Savage orcs - it was a good game.

This was a trial run for both of us I think for our league lists.

Stupid coach reaches god mode on 2 turns....

Aaron Johnson Results Empty League Results 5/3

Post  Fletch Fri May 04, 2012 12:14 pm

Single Match
The Savage Wilds of Orcs (Aaron) vs. The Desert Undead (Richard)
Winner - Savage Orcs - who didn't get to do anything until the end of the game, but oh how they shined.

MVP for me was the Boss needing 6's to wound the Sphinx and doing 3 wounds!

Good game Richard.

See you all again next Thursday!

Aaron Johnson Results Empty League 5/11

Post  Fletch Fri May 11, 2012 12:56 pm

League report here, and the news is not good:

Savage Orcs (me) vs. Dark Elves (Ryan)

Besides some family interruptions, the game went on - but maybe it should have stopped.

The Dark Elves magic just kept decimating the boys, causing the once great T4 Savages to meer T1. And when you're in HtH, that's no good Evil or Very Mad

Single Match
Winner - Dark Elves

And I was tabled. But, good news was I didn't lose any of my characters!

1750 may hold a few other surprises....

Aaron Johnson Results Empty League (ish) 5/16 Results - Richard need to know some d20 results

Post  Fletch Thu May 17, 2012 9:25 am

Andrew and I hooked up for a battle of wills last night. He isn't technically in the league, but I kept my list as I was supposed to. We did play at 1750pts.

Portent: During the roll for mission/sides, my dice bag snagged my metal Rock Lobba. This sent the lobba, crew, metal SO Shaman, and others tumbling down to the floor - 3ft below.

Needless to say, it didnt' survive and my pinned Shaman also broke - it broke the freaking pin job! Evil or Very Mad

Anywho:

We played battle 2 - the one with the wonky deployment and both of us basically ended up on the same side of the table. Go figure.

Savage Horde (Aaron) vs. Big, Medium, and Little Rats (Andrew)
Single Match
Winner - Savage Horde

Big pile up in the middle for the first 2 turns - then I actually read my magic cards. Hand of Gork teleported my Savage Boys to his flank and it wasn't very nice. Our two monsters killed each other on the same turn though and both of us not knowing some of the rules helped out Razz

Richard: Here are my d20 results. Need to know what they mean!

Survivors:
Savage Orc Boss - 5
Savage Orc Shaman - 5

Injured:
Goblin Big Boss - 2
NG Shaman - 11
NG BSB - 6

Thanks Andrew!

It was interesting for sure. The Godzilla match in the middle was cool, though my shooting was predictably terrible.

Apparently this didn't count for anything, sorry you broke your stuff.

Aaron Johnson Results Empty League Results - 5/31 and 6/7 - Both same player - Both same results

Post  Fletch Sun Jun 03, 2012 7:37 pm

So, I got paired up with Robert that last two weeks and faced off against the Skaven - once at 1750 and again at 2000pts.

I don't know what I can do vs. the Dreaded 13th spell. That thing is just ridiculous. 1st game I lost 20 savage boys first turn.

2nd game I lost 30 savages over two turns and totally wiped my BSB, General, and Shaman with the rest of the group. No look out sir, no ward save, nothing. Just remove from play...

Didn't help the trolls getting swept the turn before...

Would not like to play skaven again if possible Mad

Very Happy

Aaron, your numbers are way off on the Dreaded 13th. First game, you only lost 18 to the first cast, not 20! Shocked

It was the second game where you lost 20 on the first cast... and I think you lost another 12 on the second cast.

Both games had some lucky casts, though... it's usually not THAT bad. If it helps any, I felt bad every time I cast it.

Aaron Johnson Results Empty Results 6/14/12 and 6/28/12

Post  Fletch Fri Jun 29, 2012 7:02 pm

The Orks made a pretty good comeback on 6/14. After taking two weeks of a straight beating from Skaven, the Beastmen Hoard came in to greenskin territory.

Aaron (Savages) vs. Tim (Beasts of Chaos)

Result: Win for the Savages! clown

Tim should skin his BSB. The fanatics did a wonderful job getting his main group to take wounds, but he failed 5 straight LD tests (re-rollable!) and that just set the stage for things to come.

The trolls got things off to a good start as we found the treasurey right off the bat, and the Savages came in to help mop up. The rest of the battle was a lot of redirection of the savages due to being such a large unit, not being able to move back and forth, and lot's of brutal beast on orc action!

Thanks Tim!

But Then:

Last night

Savages vs. Empire No

First time playing the new Empire list, and most of it seems the same. The Steam Tanks however are freaking crazy. Two tanks grinded a unit of 5+ Ward save Savage orcs to dust. They stayed in combat the WHOLE game (except for first turn). The boss and big uns unit was doing decent, until The Holy One came a riding down and smote the boss with 3 wounds with "holy crap no armor save" hammer. There were just large blocks of attrition everywhere and in the end I had no Savages left, but go figure the NG and Trolls were still just a hanging out... Rolling Eyes

Fanatics managed 22 hits and did "some" damage to the tanks - but it seemed everytime I thought something good was going to happen and the tanks would suffer - they go better.... Question

I'm thinking it may be time to put the sump pumps into the list. Need something better to deal with that kind of heavy armor. Or maybe put the trolls over there...

Aaron Johnson Results Empty Results 7/5 - Beastmen

Post  Fletch Sun Jul 08, 2012 3:24 pm

Savages vs. Beastmen

This is basically a rematch with Tim but at a higher points cost.

I tried flanking my Savages with a smaller group of Trolls (4 to each side) and threw the Spider Riders and NG's just outside of them, trying to keep everyone within that 12" zone. The Beasts had unleashed a Beast with a Gorgon hitting my spider riders. I luckily did two wounds on the stand and shoot and two more wounds during the combat. It was hard as hell to wound the beast, but she spiders got a couple of poisoned wounds in there and the Goblin hero managed to take the last wound off on a 6! Man of the match. Beastboys had a chance to win as they were sitting on the main objective at the end of turn 5, but we rolled on to keep playing and the Savages secured it in 7.

Aaron Johnson Results Empty Results 7/12/12 - Savages vs. Lizzies!

Post  Fletch Fri Jul 13, 2012 11:57 am

Savage Orcs vs. Lizardmen Stega "holy crap there's 6 of them" dons.

Result: Loss for the Savages Sad

We played a challenge scenario, and I haven't played the LM since 6th edition fantasy, so I decided to challenge the Stego-herd to a match. Unfortunately I ended up with my savages off the board along with the boss and had my BSB, Witchdoctor, and Shaman all out of units and hiding behind the warmachines. I did my best getting the fanatics out and trying to do some wounds, and the warmachines did their part as well. I did manage to get a Foot of Gork to Stomp 3 times, but then pressed my luck and he ended up stomping 11 NG to death Embarassed

In the end, it was 30 Savages being surrounded by 5 Stegadons. I did manage 12 wounds and had a chance to insta-kill 2 stegis with the Shamans staff - but coldblooded Ld saved the day.

So the Savages got wiped, and the lowly NG and Spider riders were taking pot shots at what was left.

So I just need to play Ogres and Chaos to make the rounds.

Very true - I keep forgetting our match was pre-league. So I won't be there next Thursday - but it sounds like I've got my last three matches set.

Aaron Johnson Results Empty Results 7/19 - Orcs vs. Vamps

Post  Fletch Fri Jul 20, 2012 11:18 am

Vampires suck. Black Coach earns 2x the suck, and getting Trolls stuck in combat with a banshee really sucks.

2750pts of Savages (Aaron) vs. Vampires (Matt)!

Result: Draw. Neutral

The only real thing we were trying to do was kill the opposing General. I basically have nothing that moves very fast. The Araknarok had a chance to do some damage early, but basically just ended up being a very large splat mark on the board. Anymosity sucks Exclamation I think I only had 1 turn where something didn't try to kill my own troops. Having casters protected by extra bodies - great! Not getting to cast spells for 4 out of 6 rounds sucks. Whole lot of sucking going on in this match-up! The freaking 35pt bolt throwers were the only thing that did any damage to the Vampire, almost killing it and getting him down to 1 wound, then the Night Goblin bowmen managed to do a poisoned wound (4 actually, but he made his saves).

So basically I got to be a large green turtle for 5 rounds and got nothing accomplished...

But it was a good game and my Shaman is a one man Beat Stick!

I seriously underestimated your shaman, that guy was hosstacular. I was hoping the game would have been more definitive, but you kept doing too many wounds to Hades for him to plunge headlong into your war boss!

Aaron Johnson Results Empty League Results 7/26 - Savages vs. Warriors of Chaos

Post  Fletch Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:44 am

Tonights game at 2750:

Savage Orcs vs. Warriors of Chaos - Watchtower

Well, in retrospect I think I would have been better off going 2nd. I took the tower with a unit of NG's and with the ability to stand and shoot and the Fantatics coming out - I think I managed 3 wounds on the incoming Warrior Mass? Needless to say the NG's didn't hold and promptly were swept out of the building.

Mistake #2: Trolls are not meant to storm the castle. Although they did manage to whittle the warriors down, they were eventually wiped and basically allowed Chaos to control the tower for the 4 turns needed for the relic....

Mistake #3: The Shaman did such a great job last game, I tried to use him as a beat stick again. Initiative 2 does nothing vs. Chaos and he just ended up eating a lot of wounds and didn't get to attack back. And I lost my 5+ Ward on the boys, losing 16 savages in one round of combat. Kept forgetting the hellcannons were deamons as well and took a big beating when he decided to flank charge the boys...

Outside of all this, I did manage to win the game and earn my first Jolly Roger award. But it seemed very Pyrrhic as there were too many mistakes to feel I earned it.

Aaron Johnson Results Empty League Results - 7/29 Make up Game - Savages Vs. Ogres

Post  Fletch Mon Jul 30, 2012 11:49 am

Chris and I played our make-up game Sunday Night.

Ended up with Battle for the Pass, which kind of sucked because we had terrain set up for a big mash in the middle and then ended up have to move around everything to get to the middle anyway . . .

2250pts: Savages vs. Ogres - Battle for the Pass

Result: Win for the Savages!

What can I say? This game basically came down to some manovering and a failed charge by the bulls; leaving them open to be charged to the front by Savages and to the flank by spider riders. Though trying to thin down a 30 man block of bulls is not exactly easy, the boys did enough and the spiders came in for a flank charge to cause the bulls to lose and break and be run down.

Things didn't start off quite so well, as my NG's deciced the bulls didn't really scare them and charged due to anymosity. I really hate that rule, and the fanatics rolled so low none of them reached the main unit... The nets did help by making the unit a little more survivable; but in the end they just became a giant green speed bump.

I did earn another jolly roger, and I have a few rolls to make up on Thursday.
